Esterlyn’s House is a 501c3 established in November 2016. It was created in order to assist in the care of Patients and their families in need.  In 2005 my father suffered a stroke in the Caribbean Islands and had to be medically transported to Miami. At the time, I was living in Chicago and had no experience with a sick loved one.  I had to fly emergently to Miami and meet my mother in his hospital room.  She slept in the hospital day and night.  Fortunately, I had a high school friend that was living in Miami.  He helped us out in running errands, allowed me to stay in his apartment and drove us around to find facilities to assist in the care of my Dad.

Fast forward to 2014, I am training in Geriatrics and Palliative care at the same facility that cared for my Father.  While training, I met and cared for numerous patients and families that were in the same situation I was in almost ten years ago.  At first, I would help by using my own time and money but realized that it was not sustainable.  I called on the help of my family and friends and we created Esterlyn’s House to continue the work.

We have identified Housing, Transportation and Respite Care as the key issues that some families face. However we have not limited our services and as the needs change we find ways to solve the issues. Our services extend to the Miami, Broward and Palm Beach locations. Due to our members geographic location.
